BELLATRIX PHOTOGRAPHY

Portraits & Weddings by Cami Mendes

Where are you located?

I began my career in Toronto, Canada, where I lived for over half of my life.

Nowadays, however, I'm a bit of a nomad photographer.

I'm usually in Canada during part of the summer and fall seasons and in Norway sometime in July or August.

The rest of the time I spend in Brazil and other places.

Every year is a bit different depending on the bookings I get.

If you're curious about where I'll be on a certain date, make sure to say hi.

What do you shoot?

I photograph happy humans in pretty places.

I shoot weddings (giving preference to intimate celebrations in nature) as well as on-location (outdoor & in-home) portraits (families, newborn, maternity and personal branding images).

Where do sessions happen?

My lifestyle portrait sessions always happen on-location - this means we can shoot at any beautiful spot near you, or in the comfort of your home.

Do you offer digital images?

Yes, my fees already include a full digital collection with all of your best photos (100+), each one artistically edited and delivered in high-resolution, non-watermarked, print-ready digital files.

You'll own your digital files so you'll be able to print your photos anywhere.

Are your albums & prints mandatory?

No, all of my boutique products are optional.

I believe in the importance of making memories tangible, and so I've taken the time to handpick unique fine-art products to offer my clients, including photobooks, prints, frames, and cards.

Orders can be placed through your online gallery, in the comfort of your home.

Do you travel for work?

Absolutely. I love traveling and there is no place I won't go for work, near or far.

When in Toronto for instance, I shoot all over the GTA and cottage country, including the regions of Muskoka & Niagara.

In Oslo, I've gone as far as Porsgrunn and Larkollen and I'm always excited to explore new places.

And of course, I'm thrilled to work abroad. So far I've photographed in: USA, Norway, Holland, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Ireland, and Indonesia.

Do you offer specials?

Sometimes. To be notified of seasonal specials like fall minis, sign up to my newsletter.

(I only send a handful of emails per year, so no worries about spam.)

How do I know you're right the photographer for me?

When going through my portfolio, you should resonate with two things: my way of framing moments and expressions + my style of retouching (now inspired on the vintage look of Fuji film).

Second, I love to create beautiful images to be displayed in beautiful ways.

I love designing photobooks and frame collections and I appreciate working with clients who feel excited to turn their favourite portraits into precious keepsakes.

How can I book you?

My main advice is to book early.

I cap the amount of clients I photograph each year and my seasons in each location are not very long, so I recommend early booking to guarantee a spot.

Fall in Toronto is always my busiest season.

If you're interested, send me an email for more info. All you will need to book is a refundable deposit.

If you're only looking around for now, I suggest you join my list so I can let you know when I'm open for bookings near you.

(TIP: My newsletter receives details on my seasons before everyone else and gets early access to my booking calendar.)

Founded in 2011 in Toronto, by passionate photographer Cami Mendes, Bellatrix is an international boutique photography studio focused on lifestyle portraiture & intimate weddings.

Bellatrix literally means female warrior in Latin and it is also the name of the third brightest star in the Orion constellation, aka the Amazon Star.

The Bellatrix logo is a reference to the remarkable power of recollection that elephants possess. They remember little things long after they've happened...

...and it is through the art of photography that we, humans, are able to "freeze" precious moments in time so that, just like elephants, we may never forget them.

“Photography is the art of frozen time... the wonderful ability to store emotion and feelings within a frame.”

- Meshack Otieno
